Polyols- (Bio) Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG)

Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) [CAS25190-06-1], also known as polytetrahydrofuran, is a high-performance polymer with unique properties that make it a valuable material in several industries. It is a linear, synthetic polymer consisting of repeating tetramethylene ether units. PTMEG possesses exceptional elasticity, flexibility, and resilience, making it an ideal material for applications requiring high mechanical strength and durability. It has a low glass transition temperature, which means it remains flexible even at low temperatures. Additionally, PTMEG is highly resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and UV radiation, enhancing its suitability for demanding environments.
PTMEG is utilized in several applications, such as, in Polyurethanes as a crucial component in the production of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU), in the production of Spandex and Elastane Fibers due to its excellent elasticity and resilience, in coatings, adhesives and sealants due to its chemical resistance and flexibility and in synthetic leathers.

Alcohols – 1,4 Butanediol (1,4 BDO)

1,4-Butanediol [CAS 110-63-4] is a colorless, odorless, and hygroscopic liquid, known for its remarkable solubility in water and most organic solvents. It has a relatively low viscosity and a wide liquid range, making it easy to handle and blend into various formulations. These properties make BDO an ideal candidate for a diverse range of applications.

1,4 BDO is found in a broad variety of applications, such as high-performance polymers (e.g. polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and Spandex), solvent applications (e.g. as a solvent for various plastics, resins and dyes), synthetization of active ingredients (as a precursor in pharmaceutical compounds and cosmetic formulations) and chemical intermediates (e.g. Tetrahydrofuran (THF), Polyurethanes and Plasticizers).
